None Other Lamb – Christina Rossetti

.

We are big fans of Christina Rossetti here at Cardiphonia having written music to a number of her texts.  This hymn comes from a devotional commentary she wrote on the book of Revelation called The Face of the Deep (1892).

Here is a wonderful article from Dennis Haack at Ransom Fellowship on Christina Rossetti and this text.

Here is another version of this text from our friend Nathan Partain.

None Other Lamb, None Other Name
mp3 | leadsheet | chord chart

.

None other Lamb, none other name,

None other hope in heaven or earth or sea,

None other hiding place from guilt and shame,

None beside thee!

.

My faith burns low, my hope burns low;

Only my heart’s desire cries out in me

By the deep thunder of its want and woe,

Cries out to thee.

.

Chorus

None other Lamb, none other name,

None other hope in heaven or earth or sea,

None other hiding place from guilt and shame,

None beside thee!

.

Lord, thou art life, though I be dead;

Love’s fire thou art, however cold I be;

Nor heav’n have I, nor place to lay my head,

Nor home, but thee.

Text: Christina Rossetti, The Face of the Deep, 1892.

  1. Wow! What a beautiful song! Thanks for sharing.

    Do you use a real rhodes at church or do you have some great sounding keyboard? I would love for us to do some rhodes stuff sometime.
