But For You Who Fear My Name – Lenny Smith

But For You Who Fear My Name is another great congregational song off of the The Welcome Wagon album that I have been featuring the past couple of months.  This song was originally written by Lenny Smith (Father of Dan Smith, aka Danielson Family)  who is one of the early pioneers of the praise & worship movement.

You can go HERE to listen to Lenny’s original version and read some great thoughts on this song from Sufjan Stevens who produced the album.

This song is a musical meditation on Malachi 4:2; 3:17

But For You Who Fear My Name
mp3 | leadsheet

But for you who fear my Name,

Son of righteousness will rise,

With healing in his wings

And you shall go forth again,

Skip about like calves coming from their stalls at last

.

You shall be my very own

On the day that I cause you to be My special home

I shall spare you as a man

Who has compassion on his son,

who does the best he can.
