CTK Lessons and Carols 2011

Last night Christ the King celebrated our annual Lessons and Carols Service at the lovely Burning Coal Theatre space in downtown Raleigh.  Thanks to everyone who made the service such a special night of gospel-ing the Incarnation!

PDF of the Service

Highlights were:

  • The dramatic readings led by Pj and crew (see script here)
  • The “Odors of Edom” vocal ensemble singing William Billings “Judea” (more info here)
  • Upon a Hill in Bethlehem (Glory!) a song I began in my class at Duke this Fall and then worked up as a prelude for the service.

Here is our song list:

(prelude) Upon a hill in Bethlehem (Glory!)
O Come all ye faithful
Let all mortal flesh keep silence
I wonder as I wander
In the bleak mid-winter
o little town in Bethlehem
(special) Judea – William Billings
Away in a manger
What child is this?
Angels we have heard on high
Star in the east
Joy to the world (our arr.)

Here is our service from last year.
