Week 1 – O Come, Divine Messiah – Advent 2018

Bellwether_journal_cover_stamp-11Welcome to Advent 2018

This year we are going to blog our way through the whole season of Advent & Christmas sharing one song a day!

O Come, Divine Messiah
mp3 | chart | text info

Pillar church introduced this old french carol to me from their album exploring the book of Luke.  Come to find out this is a stellar text for advent and their musical arrangement lends a different vibe than most of the Christmas music out there!

O come, divine Messiah, the world in silence waits
When hope shall sing its triumphs, and sadness flee away
O come desired of nations, whom priest and prophet told,
Will break the captive fetters, redeem the long-lost fold.

Come to the earth, come to the earth,
dear Savior, haste!
Dispel the night, dispel the night
and show your face,
Bid us hail the dawn of grace.

O come in peace and meekness, for lowly will you be
Though clothed in human weakness, we shall your God-head see
O come, divine Messiah, the world in silence waits
When hope shall sing its triumphs, and sadness flee away.
