Glad for some beautiful new music to kick off the week. With school finished up I begin to turn my eye to the August. Not sure what that will mean for this year but grateful for artists that will carry me there with truth, beauty, and goodness.
Rain for Roots: “All Creatures” (songbook)
This is the 4th full-length release for the group of musicians who release music under the moniker “Rain for Roots.” Their 1st release “Big Stories for Little Ones” was inspired by a collection of poems by best-selling children’s author, Sally Lloyd-Jones. This newest collection is a mix of retuned hymns, hymn arrangements and original tunes/texts. The albums kicks off with a singable retune of “All Things Bright and Beautiful” and evolves into a growing pallet of genre’s and approaches. The album ends with a simple arr. of a song that Sandra originally released on the Bifrost Arts record “Lamentations.” The record as a whole is a great listen – the production and arrangements are reminiscent of some of the best Dan Zanes records.
